2 LATIN AMERICAN FREE TRADE ASSOCIATION (LAFTA)
Латиноамериканская ассоциация свободной торговли (ЛАСТ)
Региональный союз, образованный в 1960 г. с целью содействия экономическому развитию стран-членов путем создания зоны свободной торговли. Основателями ассоциации стали семь стран: Аргентина, Бразилия, Перу, Чили, Мексика, Парагвай и Уругвай. Позже к ним присоединились Колумбия, Эквадор, Венесуэла и Боливия. В 1980 г. после заключения нового договора ассоциация стала называться Ассоциацией интеграции стран Латинской Америки (Latin American Integration Association (LAIA)). В 1999 г. к ней присоединилась Куба. Однако по причине экономической и политической нестабильности в регионе союз стал постепенно распадаться: более слабые страны - Перу, Чили, Колумбия и Эквадор в 1969 г. объединились в Андский пакт (см. Andean Pact), Мексика вступила в договор о Североамериканской зоне свободной торговли (см. NAFTA) в 1993 г., а остальные страны-члены ЛАСТ (за исключением Венесуэллы) создали таможенный союз (см.
